Nodular torsion of small intestine
This disease is characterized by formation of a nodule in a
haori string pattern or a paper bundle pattern caused by twining
of a part of the intestine around another part. In this 8-year-old
gelding horse, the jejunum was tied up by the adjacent part, and
the mesenterium in this area was strangled and pulled. The part
of the small intestine showing torsion is bluish red - blackish red,
swollen, and shows enlarged mesenteric blood vessels. (register No. 4313)
