Contagious pustular dermatitis of Japanese serow
This disease is due to orf virus in parapoxviruses. This disease
was detected in 9 of 85 Japanese serows, a special national treasure,
protected in Iwate prefecture in 1981. Serows with this disease were
also detected in Miyagi, Fukushima, and Yamagata Prefectures, suggesting
prevalence of this disease in a wide area of the Tohoku region.
